A Certified Diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery – Dr. Bruce Kadz’s artistic edge and eye for detail have him at the forefront of surgical innovation in the plastic surgery community.

Plastic surgery changes lives.  Therefore, communication is key between physician and patient. With that in mind, Kadz takes the time to get to know his patients and their plastic surgery expectations – a crucial element when it comes to patient satisfaction.

A graduate of U.C.L.A. with a Medical Doctorate from the Medical College of Wisconsin, Kadz trained in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Miami and completed overseas training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Bristol, England.  Years of specialized training and extensive international fellowships have landed Kadz on the pages of numerous “Best Doctor’s in America”.

A member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society of Laser and International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, Kadz is recognized by peers and patients alike for combining the highest quality of surgical knowledge and extensive hands-on cosmetic and reconstructive expertise.

Kadz feels communication between patient and surgeon is key for achieving realistic patient expectation and outstanding surgery results.

“It’s up to the surgeon to make sure that patients leave happy with their results.  For that to happen – honest communication between patient and surgeon is essential,” states Kadz.

In addition to an extensive medical and surgical training, Kadz received a Business and Economics Degree from UCLA before starting his medical education.

“I was born into a conservative family.  My mother was a stay at home wife and my father was a physician. I get my passion from my mother and my professionalism from my father.  I take pride in my work and am available to my patients 24/7.  One element I enjoy is seeing instant results.  Also, I’m very good at hand-eye coordination – two major reasons why I chose Plastic Surgery for a profession and enjoy the work I do so much.”

Respect between a surgeon and his patient is crucial.  What sets Kadz apart is his willingness to be up front and frank with his patients when it comes to realistic surgery expectations

" I spend a great deal of time with patients prior to their surgery to make certain we are both clear about their expectations.  I treat patients as if they were family… the same as if my mother or sister came to me asking for advice.  This is who I am and it’s important to me ethically.  I give each patient a frank and honest opinion and I will not do surgery or recommend a procedure if I believe they do not need it.”

Great surgery results translate to happy patients walking around singing the praises of their surgeon and recommending him to family and friends.  Just as noteworthy are patients who are not thrilled with their results or their surgeon – a scenario neither surgeon or patient wants.

“When people receive surgery from me they are walking around with my stamp – so to speak.  I don’t want to be known as the guy who did that!  It’s crucial that my patients not only receive the result they hoped for, but leave knowing that I put forth my best effort to achieve that result.”

Kadz is very fond of the Spanish and Latin culture.  He says that he finds its people warm, friendly and more laid back.  That feeling accounts for the decision Kadz made to open his first Plastic Surgery office in Miami – where he still maintains an office and a beautiful home.  Kadz flies there once a month to see his patients.  Seven years ago he opened his Beverly Hills practice and now has numerous satellite offices throughout Southern California: Encino, Rancho Cucamonga, and Orange County.

Maintaining optimum health and staying at peak performance is essential for this successful bachelor who says that being physically fit affords him the stamina and endurance to stay focused in his demanding and sometimes grueling profession which can mean six hours or even longer in the OR completing a multi surgery procedure.  When not in the operating room, he unwinds playing soccer or next best – basketball or volleyball.

Despite accomplishing all he has at such relatively young age, Kadz has no desire to stop his professional momentum even for a minute.  Each day he strives to better himself on all levels, by perfecting his procedures and interjecting an innovative and cutting-edge approach to his craft.

“I’m always thinking how can I do better? I don’t really think about what I have already accomplished.  I do head-to-toe makeovers and feel I do them as well as anyone.  I am at my best with combined procedures: facial and body procedures together – and I’ve done many.”

When asked who he believes had the greatest influence on him and his artistic surgical edge with reconstruction and rejuvenation he refers to one of the true Masters of Plastic Surgery.

“Everything that I am as a person I got from my mother and father.  Everything that I am as a Plastic Surgeon I got my Dr. Ralph Millard, who I trained under in Miami.  Arguably one of the best Plastic Surgeons that has ever lived, he was a great mentor who I had the privilege of studying with during a six month fellowship program.  I am very proud that I had the opportunity to know and work with him.”

Plastic surgery popularity is at an all time high.  The stigma once attached to those wanting to improve their body image has melted away with their wrinkles and fat.  Much credit goes to the current cue of television shows – especially the reality-based ones.  We asked Dr. Kadz about his vision for himself and profession

“The older I get the more humble I become.  My goal is to evolve into more of a people’s person.  I believe if you do good by others they will do good by you.  Sadly, I think that the personal touch in Plastic Surgery is becoming lost.  It has become more about pushing a product.  My greatest wish is to have more time with my patients and not feel rushed.  I started this early… I was one of the youngest Board Certified Plastic Surgeons in the United States.  I am hoping to be able to stop and smell the roses.  Achieve a little more balance and not have to go a hundred miles an hour.  That would be nice.”

ALL ABOUT FACES

Facelift (Rhytidectomy) & Neck Lift:
These procedures counteract aging of the skin, sun exposure and stress by removing excess fat and tightening skin/muscles, offering a more youthful look.  Dr. Kadz combines the modern SMAS Technique (deep tightening of facial muscles) with the classic extended skin flap technique in producing the most natural appearance.  This procedure is many times combined very successfully with a browlift and eyelid surgery or with nose reshaping surgery for a totally harmonious facial result.  Incisions are made in inconspicuous places such as behind the hairline or in the natural folds of the face and ears.  Scars tend to naturally fade to near invisibility with time.

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty):
Combining state-of-the-art techniques, Dr. Kadz rejuvenates eyelids by removing excess skin and fat to correct puffy, sagging or tired looking eyes.  In some patients excess fat from lower eyelids is transposed to correct undesirable hollowness below.  Wrinkles are improved by direct removal of excess skin and muscle or laser re-surfacing.

Forehead Lift (Browlift):
Browlifts revitalize drooping or lined foreheads.  Muscles above the eyes are altered to smooth lines and improve the look of the eyes.

Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty):
Rhinoplasty reshapes, reduces and augments a nose.  Whether it is to remove a hump, narrow nostril width, change the angle between the nose and the mouth or correct injury, birth defects, or problems affecting breathing.  Ususally an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia.

Chin Surgery (Mentoplasty):
Known as mentoplasty it can reshape the chin by enhancement with an implant or reduction on the bone.  This surgery can go with nose surgery to achieve facial proportion and also provide a harmonious balance to facial features.

Ear Surgery (Otoplasty):
Typically done to set prominent ears back closer to the head or to reduce the size of large ears.  Can be performed on children as young as four years of age (when ears are fully grown) to minimize teasing in school.

BODY CONTOURING

Abdominoplasty (“Tummy Tuck”)
Helps flatten and shape waist and abdomen by removing excess fat/skin and tightening muscles.  The best candidates are those with pockets of fat / loose skin that haven’t responded to diet and exercise.  Helps women with stretched skin/muscles due to pregnancy.  With a balanced diet and regular exercise, the results are long-lasting.

Liposuction (Lipoplasty / Suction Lipectomy)
Liposuction is long considered the miracle “fast-buster” of all time.  It’s as easy as here today… gone tomorrow for the millions of women and men who have had the procedure.

In today’s world wanting a lean body is no longer a woman thing!  From Hollywood A-listers to everyday people… men as well as women in search of a flat and sculpted stomach are turning to liposuction when they find that diet and exercise fail to provide the desired results.  For especially hard to target areas such as for men: stomach and love handles and for women: the lower stomach and thigh areas- Liposuction is giving people of all ages bodies they had 20 years ago!

Now considered one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures available to counteract the aging process of the body, liposuction sculpts by removing undesirable fat from the abdomen, hips, waist, thighs, inner knees, neck and upper arms – areas slow to respond to diet and exercise with age.

Dr. Kadz points out that although many sculpted bodies we see at the gym or on thebeach have relied on Spot Liposuction to achieve a perfect body look – Liposuction should not be used to replace exercise or a proper diet.  He also notes that Spot Liposuction is not for everyone – not for those extremely over-weight.  Liposuction targets areas of “pudge” – smaller pockets of fat that refuse to respond to diet or exercise.  For those with several pounds to shed, a Tummy Tuck combined with Liposuction offers long-lasting and remarkable results.

Most Liposuction scars are not visible or can be minimized by placing incisions in the belly button, groin or below the bikini line.  Several spots can be done at the same time and recovery/bruising/swelling is minimized with post-operative lymphatic drainage.
